Moon Curser Riesling – Confiscated 2024

Grown in Washington. Made in BC.

Made in Osoyoos, from premium Washington grown grapes on the southern shore of Lake Chelan, just 2 hours south of Moon Curser. This Riesling is the perfect patio wine with a touch of sweetness, bright acidity and notes of green apple, white peach and orange peel. Confiscate away!

Tasting Notes

Our 2024 Riesling – Confiscated is a harmonious and balanced white wine. The grapes are grown on the Clos CheValle Vineyard at an altitude between 1,300 and 1,500 feet, which allowed for balanced ripening process that maintained fresh and bright acidity alongside sugar development. The wine is pale lemon in colour, with enticing aromas of orange peel, white peach and green apple on the nose. On the palate, the bright acidity is balanced perfectly with a hint of sweetness, delivering a refreshing wine with lovely texture and flavours of orange marmalade and nashi pears, all underpinned by a lingering hint of subtle minerality. This crisp wine is ready to drink now, but has enough acidity that it will reward those who choose to cellar. Aging further will allow the Riesling to evolve, and develop intriguing secondary flavour characteristics of honey and petrol. Enjoy this wine on its own, or with coconut shrimp, beef curry, smoked trout or pork tenderloin with apples.

The Bartier Bros.

We’re from this Valley. We grew up here, we know it, we love it, we are a product of it and we feel responsible to it. Our wines are an expression of the valley, being true to the language that can describe any aspect of the Okanagan; bright, fresh, refreshing, pristine, unspoilt, alive and so on . . .

Our ambition is to make great wines. Great wine can be found all over the world but it’s important for us not to merely copy those wines because by definition, great wine is unique and identifiable to its origin. Of course, great wine also by definition should be delicious. In the Okanagan Valley, we have a rare and precious combination of growing conditions; relatively high altitude, desert climate (hot days, cool nights), low humidity, tolerable winters from our moderating lakes, young soils lain over glacial till and all of this occurs at a very high latitude from the equator. The Okanagan epitomizes all of the great qualities, which the entire global wine industry scrambles to define itself as being.

Fort Berens Riesling Reserve 2023

An aromatic Riesling with tropical and yellow fruit notes including quince, with a touch of jasmine, ginger spice, and floral notes coming though. This wine has a sensational palate with a rich, creamy mouthfeel and a soft, yet crisp finish that lingers with flavour.

Awards & Accolades
  • SILVER – 91 points, National Wine Awards of Canada 2025
  • SILVER – 90 points, Decanter World Wine Awards 2025
Vineyard Notes

100% estate grown grapes Dry Creek Vineyard (planted in 2009) and Red Rock Vineyard (planted in 2019).

Winemaker Notes

With cool nights during ripening, the 100% estate grown Riesling grapes were picked later in the season at optimal ripeness from our Dry Creek Vineyard and Red Rock Vineyard. The longer hanging time and cool nights added to the richness in flavour. 40% of the grapes were destemmed and crushed with 12 hours of skin contact for flavour. The other 60% of the grapes were whole-cluster pressed for added mouthfeel. A long and slow natural fermentation took place in a combination of 225L & 400L French oak barrels, and then the wine further matured for 7 months in barrels. 16% second fill French oak barrels were used, with the rest in neutral oak to retain the freshness of the wine.

Food Pairings

This aromatic Riesling is a beautiful wine to enjoy with a sesame ginger stir-fry or pork with garlic and lemon.

Aging

Enjoy this wine now through 2027. With optimal cellaring conditions, this Riesling will age well through 2028.

Blasted Church Pinot Gris 2024

Winemaking

The Pinot Gris was grown on a gentle north-facing slope, a rarity in the Horse Heaven Hills, at Andrews Family Vineyards, a member of Sustainable WA. We decided to keep a heavier canopy in the block to allow us to push the harvest date back into late-September, which gave the fruit more time to evolve on the vine while still preserving the natural acidity. The soils in the Pinot Gris block are silty-loam over top of fractured basalt. The upper soils are very similar to what we have in our own vineyards, which allowed us to put together a wine that is true to our house style. The similarity between the sites was a big contributing factor in our decision to source our fruit from Andrews Family Vineyards, second only to the AFV team.

The fruit was harvested on September 24th, and after a two-hour cold soak, the juice was pressed to tank to settle before being racked and transferred to our cellar in temperature-controlled trucks.

Upon arrival in our cellar, the juice was racked into tanks to cold settle further prior to fermentation. Each tank was given a slightly different treatment, allowing us to put together a nuanced wine with all the orchard fruit and stone fruit notes, acidity, and balance that is so reminiscent of our Okanagan Valley-sourced Pinot Gris.

Tasting note

Colour: Pale straw.

Nose: Orchard fruits, stone fruits, honey, and tangerine.

Palate: A bright attack of pear, apple, and lemon. The richness builds into the mid-palate, balancing the acidity, and carries into the nicely textured finish with flavours of stone fruits and honey. A Pinot Gris that remains true to our house style, through all of the challenges of the 2024 vintage.

Residual Sugar: 2.6 grams/litre

Pairing

Roasted chicken, grilled fish, salty cheese.

Awards

92 Points – BC Wine Trends

“Bright and lively on entry, offering pear, apple, and citrus. The mid-palate broadens with gentle richness, revealing layers of stone fruit and subtle honey notes. Acidity remains finely balanced throughout, resulting in a clean, textured finish that lingers with notes of citrus and pear,” writes Julian Park, awarding the 92-point score.

Haywire 2023 Pinot Gris

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Vineyard: Switchback Vineyard
Geographical Indication: Okanagan Valley BC VQA

Pinot Gris from the estate Switchback Organic Vineyard was whole cluster pressed, fermented naturally and aged in concrete tanks and large foudre. 11 months on lees with constant stirring delivered a complex wine with fine structure, minerality and texture. An iconic Okanagan Pinot Gris that will reward careful cellaring. Pair with creamy cheeses, roast poultry, or other light meats.

Available online $29.99 or also available at WineClub.ca by subscription.

Appearance: A nice clear straw that gives the wine a refreshing and welcome appearance

Nose: Tingly with interesting stone fruit and floral notes with an underlying base of Bartlett pear that’s firm and freshly cut. It peaks the curiosity about what is to come and what the scents promise about the wine.

Palate: A perfect balance between lightish and medium that forges its own path to the mouth. Quite delicious as the nose notes follow to the palate with increased interest and ripe fruit with just a teasing of spice to finish. For those of us who are looking the acidity hits the mark.

Food Pairings: This is a wine that begs to be paired with a stinky cheese and a slice of baguette but would be just as at home with a slice of plum torte. Very versatile it would lend itself to poultry dishes or white fish. I’d try it with a mild curry just to see how it might perform.

Definitely the wine would lend itself to most light dishes or as a stand alone aperitif on a Sunday afternoon.

My caution would be not to over chill this wine but let its wonderful flavours be enticed to show themselves when the wine no longer fogs the glass. It should be appreciated for its balance and lingering finish.

Decanting: In my opinion most whites don’t necessarily benefit from decanting and my pour was straight from the bottle, tasted right away, and again after the first chill subsided when it really showed its paces.

My suggestion, share your glass of delish Pinot Gris while relaxing in a comforting bubble bath.

Hester Creek 2024 ROSÉ CABERNET FRANC

WINE PROFILE

Tasting Notes
This vintage displays a brilliant profile with luscious aromas of pink grapefruit, cherry and stewed strawberry. On the palate, these characteristics are mirrored with ripe cherry, strawberry and an added touch of rhubarb and cream soda. A delicious wine to enjoy on its own, or pair with a gourmet spread of spicy salami and strong cheeses.

Vineyard Notes
The 2024 vintage from Hester Creek was sourced from just south of the border in the Columbia Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA). This AVA and its sub-AVAs were chosen for the proximity and similarities to the South Okanagan with respect to terroir, varietals and viticultural history. We chose the vineyard blocks based on our quality standards and all the winemaking was done in-house by our winemaking team. Across the sub-AVAs, bud break began in late March with a cool spring. By July, temperatures climbed to above average and balanced out the Growing Degree Days. The season produced large grape clusters with small berry sizes, leading to great quality fruit for winemaking. Each cluster of grapes for Hester Creek was hand harvested, starting with our Sauvignon Blanc on September 2, and ending with Cabernet Sauvignon on October 11. The grapes were brought to our crush pad in recyclable containers and hand sorted by our team before continuing the winemaking process

Winemaker Notes
To craft our signature Rosé, we sourced 100% Cabernet Franc grapes from the Columbia Valley AVA, with the majority of the grapes coming from Red Mountain AVA and Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Each cluster was hand harvested before being transported to Hester Creek’s crush pad in temperature-controlled trucks. The grapes were hand sorted by our team, destemmed and cold soaked on the skins for three days to extract the vibrant ruby tone. The wine underwent 21 days of fermentation before being racked, cross blended and aged for four months in stainless steel tanks. We bottled the 2024 vintage on January 23, 2025.

Even the colour is Valentine’s Day festive!
