Sunshine Coast Local Jack Chen as Inaugural Head Chef

led by acclaimed, award-winning coastal cuisine expert.
The team behind The Breeze is thrilled to announce Chef Jack Chen as the restaurant’s inaugural Head Chef, bringing his culinary expertise to Sechelt’s newest dining destination, set to open in May 2026.
As Head Chef, Chen will lead the culinary vision for The Breeze, crafting a menu inspired by the region’s coastal setting and designed to deliver a memorable dining experience for both locals and visitors.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Vancouver, Jack honed his culinary craft internationally at Michelin-starred restaurants, including Birdsong, Smyth, In De Wulf, Ubuntu, and The Ledbury. In British Columbia, he trained under industry leaders such as Scott and Stephanie Jaeger of Pear Tree and John Bishop of Bishop’s. Jack’s career has been defined by a devotion to thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking. After leading teams at award-winning restaurants including L’abattoir and Farmer’s Apprentice, he relocated to the Sunshine Coast, where he and his wife opened the beloved Brassica in Lower Gibsons, known for spotlighting the Coast’s local growers and producers.
“At The Breeze, I’m excited to showcase the incredible ingredients grown, caught, and crafted right here in our backyard and ocean,” says Chen. “The Sunshine Coast has a strong sense of community and connection to land and sea, and I can’t wait for residents and visitors to experience this coastal oasis for locally sourced dining.”
The Breeze Experience
Opening as part of The Breeze Restaurant, Suites, and Events at TELUS Marina, the 17,000-square-foot waterfront destination blends relaxed coastal living with thoughtful design. The two-storey, open-air building frames stunning views of Sechelt Inlet, with light-filled dining spaces, wide glass doors, and shaded terraces that connect guests to the outdoors.
Guests will enjoy a variety of experiences across three levels:
Main Floor Restaurant: A lively, casual space serving lunch and dinner daily, including weekend brunch and happy hour, with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced dishes.
Second-Floor Event Space: Perfect for weddings, corporate retreats, birthdays, and other celebrations.
Signature Suites: Four suites provide convenient, comfortable on-site accommodation.
Rooftop Space: Seasonal dining and drinks, as well as intimate private dinners and smaller events with spectacular marina views.
Operated by The Fifteen Group, a leading hospitality consulting agency with experience supporting over 1,400 restaurants across North America, The Breeze will serve as a community hub, partnering with local farmers, fishers, and producers. Future programming will further establish TELUS Marina as a destination for food lovers and a gathering place for the community.
