Fritzi’s Vineyard Icewine x Fine Cheese
After a big meal, there is nothing more comforting than some nice cheese and wine to unwind. I have always loved the challenge of pairing cheese and wine together – both share a sense of place and such a unique story.
For this pairing, I visited the local cheesemongers in Kelowna, Perseval & Young. After tasting our Fritzi’s Icewine together, they recommended their aged 1655 Gruyere from Switzerland and a Bleu d’Auvergne from France as a pairing. The combination of richness and intense flavours are a wonderful match with the Icewine.

ICEWINE x FINE CHEESE
With it’s bright acidity and intensity, Icewine is a magnificent pairing with cheese. Blue cheese, such as Roquefort, and hard aged cheese, like Parmigiano, work especially well as the richness of the cheese begs for the acidity of the Icewine.

The structure follows the natural slope and allows gravity to lead, eliminating mechanization entirely. Gravity-flow offers the gentlest handle of fruit allowing full site expression of our four distinct vineyards. With the tiers of the winery, all stages of winemaking can occur in five succinct movements. All this to create world-class Riesling and Pinot Noir.

A unique, single vineyard parcel harvested after an early period of sustained cold temperatures. The result: a complex, sweet wine that is rich, luscious and spicy.

The area is blessed with warm days, cool nights and the lowest rainfall and humidity of any wine-producing region.
