SONOMA WINES for this weekend or anytime!

Fresh off the incredible Tour of Vancouver – Sonoma in the City showcased the wineries of Sonoma County Vintners on Wednesday, February 5th at the Terminal City Club.

Select wineries of the 200 member Sonoma County Vintners were pouring some delicious wines.

“This tasting features some of Sonoma County’s leading edge producers, celebrating the range and depth of viticulture and wines of California’s largest premium wine growing region. Sonoma County’s fifteen AVA’s define the diversity of this renowned wine area and exhibit a far greater variety of wine styles and grapes than you will find in most any other premium wine area” an introduction to Sonoma in the City by Honore Comfort, Executive Director, Sonoma County Vintners.

This evening of wine tasting was a chance to try new wines and also to taste some old favourites. I have mentioned here the wines I tasted but there were many other excellent wines, far too many for me to taste them all. You will find a link that lists all the wineries at the end of this article.

Dry Creek Vineyard featured a 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Dry Creek Valley available at BC Liquor Store. Also featured were the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley and the 2013 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley. The Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are available to purchase at specialty stores both priced at $26.95. You will also find their wines at Tableau Bar Bistro by the glass.

Laurel Glen Vineyard also featured two wines one that I would categorize of the “splurge” variety. Lovely wines both, a 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Mountain at $110. this would be in a “reserve” category and is available only at Everything Wine in Surrey. New to the local specialty store Everything Wine the 2011 Counterpoint Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Mountain at $60.
