Pop-up cold-pressed cocktail bar Black Bamboo is now open
The city’s newest pop-up experience, Black Bamboo, is ready to elevate the everyday cold-pressed juice with its cocktail bar at 1219 Granville Street (back alley entrance). Guests can expect to celebrate summer vibes in a tropical-inspired and intimate room, while enjoying music, live entertainment, champagne, and of course, juiced cocktails.
“We really wanted to create a fun and distinct pop-up experience during the summer, and cold-pressed juice and cocktails is such a natural combination,” says Carissa Campeotto, owner of Commodity Juicery who joined forces with Vancouver restaurateur Peter Girges to bring Black Bamboo to life. “I’m really excited for Vancouver to see what Black Bamboo is all about. The atmosphere is going to be different from nigh-to-night but consistent in its upbeat and fun environment. From downtempo and jazz to funk, disco and even hip-hop, Black Bamboo will aim to evoke a nostalgic feel from the 90s.”
Black Bamboo has also partnered with Aperol, Hendricks Gin, and locally-created BitteredSling Bitters to provide high-quality, small-batch bitters and extracts to the cocktails.
Current cocktail creations include a Pineapple Margarita with fresh pineapple juice, Cazadores Resposado Tequila, Bitter Sling Lem Marrakech Bitters; Grapefruit Cosmo with Campari Aperol, fresh strawberry juice, and bitters; and a Mandarin Gin Drop with Hendricks Gin, fresh mandarin orange juice, and bitters. There will also be speciality punches and champagne service which includes champagne and a tasting of juices.
The Black Bamboo pop-up cocktail bar experience is open now until September 30, 2017, every Friday and Saturday, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Reservations are accepted up to two weeks in advance.
