FAR EAST FLAVOUR: CHEF FELIX ZHOU SET TO WELCOME GUESTS TO NEW HERITAGE ASIAN EATERY IN DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER IN LATE SUMMER

Counter-Service Restaurant to Offer Casual, Locally Sourced Take on Asian Fare, Sit-Down, Take-Out Lunch Options

An inspired blend of Far-East flavours and fresh, locally sourced ingredients arrives on the doorstep of downtown Vancouver later this summer when celebrated chef Felix Zhou opens the doors of Heritage Asian Eatery in the heart of the city’s Financial District at 1108 Pender St.

Heritage Asian Eatery marks the first solo foray from rising star Zhou, who migrates his impressive culinary acumen to a new casual, counter-service concept after honing his skills at such notable restaurants as Roganic and Galvin La Chapelle in London, UK and anchoring the kitchen teams as Executive Chef at The Parker Restaurant, Big Trouble Chinatown and Beach Bay Café.

The restaurant is a joint partnership between Zhou — who will direct the back-of-house Heritage team — and seasoned industry veterans Natasha Romero, previously of Village Fish & Oyster Market and current co-owner of The Anchor Eatery in West Vancouver, and Paul Zhang, a former owner of several successful Vancouver-based franchises, both of whom will oversee the front-of-house operations.

Offering both sit-down and take-out menu options, Heritage Asian Eatery will bring together a blend of Asian flavours with a locally sourced, sustainable focus, as well as a bar menu showcasing BC wines and local and import beer by the bottle. The restaurant’s 1,600-sq.-ft, fully licensed dining room will feature seating for 40 — or 60 for stand-up, private events come fall — as well as industrial-yet-rustic décor such as reclaimed wood, metal and polished concrete flooring.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to team up with Paul and Natasha, and to be able to cook with the flavours I grew up with,” says Zhou. “My philosophy has always been to use ingredients at their peak freshness and prepare them simply in dishes that blend traditional taste profiles with modern technique, and I can’t wait to introduce guests to our new concept and menu.”

While the restaurant will initially open for lunch service from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, breakfast service, pop-up dinners and private event functions will soon follow suit.

Further details on Heritage Asian Eatery, including food and drink menus, will be revealed in the coming weeks. For more information and to stay up to date on the latest developments, visit www.eatheritage.ca, become a fan of /eatheritage on Facebook or follow @eatheritage on Instagram.
