STUNNING MUSICAL LINE-UP TO APPEAR AT MISSION HILL’S SPECTACULAR OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATRE

 

Mission Hill Presents Cowboy Junkies, Michael Bolton, Jewel and Chris Botti; Experience a Once in a Lifetime Musical Performance at Mission Hill’s Intimate 1,200 seat Outdoor Amphitheatre

 

The artists are larger than life, the venue is iconic and the concerts will be legendary. Mission Hill Family Estate is proud to announce the performers appearing this summer at the winery’s spectacular outdoor Amphitheatre. The performances include: Canada’s own seminal alternative band Cowboy Junkies on Friday, July 7^th; the triumphant return of multiple Grammy Award Winner Michael Bolton on Saturday, July 8^th; legendary singer-songwriter Jewel on Friday, July 28^th; and a special return engagement by multiple Grammy Award-winning American pop and jazz instrumentalist Chris Botti on Thursday, August 3^rd.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on Wednesday, May 3^rd at 10:00 am at missionhillwinery.com or 250.762.5050. These much-anticipated concerts are once again expected to sell out quickly as these performances have become the hallmark of summer in the Okanagan Valley.

With the creation of the Amphitheatre, Proprietor Anthony von Mandl, O.C., O.B.C., a strong proponent of the arts, created a unique opportunity to enjoy live music in an unrivalled setting. Situated on a prominent hill with majestic mountains and a scenic lake creating the perfect backdrop, guests enjoy a gorgeous evening of music, wine and cuisine at one of Canada’s premiere outdoor concert venues.

Brilliant sound, glorious music, the scents of summer, the taste of Mission Hill wines and the flavour of the food, prepared on-site by Executive Chef Bradley Froehlich and his culinary team, combine to make the evening unforgettable. Past performers include Tony Bennett, Martina McBride, Chris Isaak, LeAnn Rimes, Lyle Lovett and the Gipsy Kings.

Cowboy Junkies Live in Concert – Friday, July 7^th: Cowboy Junkies was formed in Toronto in 1985 by Margo Timmins (vocalist), Michael Timmins (songwriter, guitarist), Peter Timmins (drummer) and Alan Anton (bassist). The group’s second album, The Trinity Session, and its sotto voce rendition of Lou Reed’s Sweet Jane, won them a passionate following. Subsequent albums and tours all over the world have kept Cowboy Junkies on people’s minds and turntables ever since. Cowboy Junkies have been heralded as “one of the most versatile, underrated bands of the last 25 years.”

An Evening with Michael Bolton – Saturday, July 8^th: Michael Bolton is a multiple Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and social activist that has sold more than 60 million records worldwide. He’s performed with Luciano Pavarotti, BB King, and Ray Charles; written with Bob Dylan, Paul Stanley and Lady Gaga; and had songs recorded by Cher, Barbara Streisand, Kanye West and Jay Z. He’s been hailed as one of the “Sexiest Men Alive” by People magazine, and portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow in The Lonely Island’s SNL digital video, viewed more than 150 million times.

An Evening with Jewel – Friday, July 28^th: Jewel, the legendary singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer, poet, philanthropist and bestselling author, has received four Grammy Award nominations and sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Her debut album, Pieces of You, went platinum x 12 and became one of the best-selling albums of all time on the strength of such singles as ‘Who Will Save Your Soul’, ‘You Were Meant for Me’ and ‘Foolish Games.’ Jewel has written almost 1,000 songs she describes her most recent album, Picking Up the Pieces, as a “singer-songwriter’s record,” featuring a collaboration with country legend Dolly Parton on the song My Father’s Daughter.

An Evening with Chris Botti – Thursday, August 3^rd: Chris Botti has had four #1 jazz albums, as well as multiple Gold, Platinum and Grammy Awards, and has collaborated with such fellow luminaries as Sting, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Josh Groban, Yo-Yo Ma, Vince Gill, David Foster, Michael Bublé, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, Andrea Bocelli, Joshua Bell, and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.  In 2013, Botti’s album, Impressions, won the Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album. His music Cowbrefuses to be pigeonholed, resulting in pop-jazz crossover appeal and a massive audience worldwide.
