What’s happening this Fall at Quails’ Gate

 

Hello Fall.

It’s a busy time at the winery with fall colours appearing and harvest in full swing. So far, the vineyard team has picked Foch, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with more coming in daily.

Our winemaking team has two exciting additions – our first concrete eggs (aptly named Julio and Enrique Egglesias). In case you are wondering, there are a number of reasons for using concrete compared to stainless steel: they give the wine a gentler fermentation with neutral flavour, it’s porous, the concrete is thicker, so more insulation and better for temperature control and its egg shape helps with constant lees contact too.

We have  so many things to look forward to this fall and we’re looking forward to seeing you again at Old Vines Restaurant, the Wine Shop or at one of our events. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving – cheers!

COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS ARE BACK!

We are excited about starting our new set of Wine &  Food Cooking Demonstrations with Jan Dobbener. During each class, Jan and Winery Sommelier Mike Lee will guide you through the wine and cuisine of a different region, showcasing tips and techniques along the way.  Best of all, you get to eat the delicious family-style meal at the end of the class, and take home the recipes.
