A Pride Cocktail for QMUNITY
8 Restaurants making their own unique cocktail all with the same name for a good cause
The Mackenzie Room has rallied 7 fellow restaurants to raise money and awareness in support of the Vancouver Pride Parade by featuring a Pride-themed cocktail for the week of the festival running July 29, 2019 to August 4, 2019. A percentage of all proceeds will be donated to QMUNITY. Each restaurant will design their own unique cocktail, but all the cocktails will have the same unifying name: “Pride Ally #stillfighting50” in acknowledgement of this year’s Vancouver Pride Parade theme.
Participating alongside The Mackenzie Room (Caledonia Wright) is Royal Dinette (Kaitlyn Stewart), Bar Tocador (Dale Styner/Guy Stowell), Como Taperia (Shaun Layton/TJ McWilliam), Gringos (Shoel Davidson), Nomad (Shawn Jones/Matthew Benevoli), Havana (Rich Charrois), and Three Brits (Trevor Kallies).
Kaitlyn Stewart, the 2017 World Class Bar-tender of the Year, has been using her platform at Royal Dinette to raise money and awareness around Pride for the past 4 years. This year she is excited to have the support of her industry to affect a greater impact.
A percentage of all cocktail proceeds will be donated to QMUNITY, an LGBTQ community centre located on Bute Street in the Davie Village that works to improve queer, trans, and Two-Spirit lives by creating support, establishing connections, and providing leadership. QMUNITY has been a pillar of the Vancouver community for 40 years creating safe spaces, and working on behalf of a person’s right to define their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
