2017 Morning Fog Chardonnay
Wente
Livermore Valley, California
$19.99
A typical enjoyable California chardonnay that is straw coloured with medium-minus intensity. The nose opens with butter, red apple, toast and a hint of wet stones. Good balance, big and round in the mouth. The flavours follow the nose. A medium finish. Serve with crab or lobster.
2012 Pinot Noir Reserve
Baillie-Grohman
$45.00 (current vintage price)
Garnet red with just the slightest hint of brick and medium intensity. The nose is layered with ripe dark cherries, forest floor and spice. Well balanced with a silky texture. Mouthwatering fruit on the palate followed by savoury notes. A medium-long finish with flavours lingering. An elegant wine that has only gotten better with age. Be sure to decant newer vintages so they can show their best.
2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
Montes Alpha
Vallee de Colchagua, Chile
$23.99
Garnet red/black with deep intensity. The nose is dense and concentrated with aromas dark berries and dark fruit with undertones of earth and cocoa. Well balanced with good structure. The aromas are reflected on the palate, followed by a medium-long finish. Elegant and understated. Very good now and will only get better with time to rest.
