#ShiptoSip with Lariana Cellars

I can’t believe that we just discovered the incredible wines of Lariana less than a year ago. We tasted their wines at the Garagiste North Small Guys Wine Festival and were hooked immediately. It wasn’t long after we visited the winery at the end of the season. The wines have efinitely made our #FavouriteThings list.

These are wines of distinction that are crafted with a quality first approach. We are excited to have Lariana join our #ShiptoSip campaign and excited to add that they are offering complimentary shipping on four or more bottles.

“The countless hours we invest and the careful growing practices we employ result in premium grapes that are a true reflection of our unique microclimate.” Lariana website

Here is our list of the wines we know you are going to enjoy:

2018 Viognier

100% Viognier

fermented in concrete

As in previous vintages the fruit is sourced from Red Brick vineyard (east side of Osoyoos Lake) and the estate vineyard Shady Lagoon. 75% of the fermentation and aging happens in concrete with the remainder split between one French oak barrel and stainless. Upon the first few swirls, whiffs of tangerine, honeysuckle and soft fruits waft out of the glass. The juicy core is further enhanced by lemony shortbread and honeyed peach cream with a dusting of ginger. Weighty, without being rich and fat, persists to the finish. Paired with curry chicken thighs and Moroccan-spiced blood orange couscous.

2015 Fifteen

63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 17% Carménère

The blend is 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 17% Carménère. The wine was aged 18 months in French oak (35% new). This is a bold and generous wine. Aromas and flavours of dark fruit mingle with spice, fig, dark chocolate and tobacco. The wine has long, ripe and polished tannins. 94.

2016 Cabernet Sauvignon

estate grown

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Lariana Cab Sauvignon in 2016 achieved balance, as the vintage allowed all the blocks to be picked at their optimum ripeness. Aromas are layered with dark plums, dried Mediterranean mulberries with hints of licorice and cedar. Plump and delicious, it fills the mouth with flavours of juicy black cherries, espresso-scented chocolate with an underlying streak of cassis. All this explosive richness transforms into a silken graceful finish. Pairing alongside simply grilled thick lamb chops comes to mind.

IN 2007 WE PLANTED GRAPES

It wasn’t until 2007 that the promise of a shiny new tractor inspired us to replace our fruit trees with grapevines. The vineyard was planted under the advice and direction of one of the Okanagan’s most respected pioneer in grape growing, Richard Cleave.

The countless hours we invest and the careful growing practices we employ result in premium grapes that are a true reflection of our unique microclimate. Hot, dry days and cool, crisp nights as well as the moderating effect of Osoyoos lake create an ideal environment for producing deep, flavourful varieties such as Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carménère. In 2012, after three years of selling our crop to local wineries, we decided to take the plunge and Lariana Cellars was born.
