#WelcomeBack to Vanessa Vineyard

Despite appearances Vanessa is excited to have you visit once again. Off the beaten track somewhat but so worth the time to add this winery’s tasting room to your agenda. We suggest you take the scenic route from Hope through Princeton and Keremeos if you’re looking for a change of scene.

No journey through the Similkameen is complete without a stop at Vanessa. The Tasting Room is one of my favourites, so calming and zen it is the ideal setting for tasting the outstanding wines of Master Winemaker Howard Soon.

With recommendations like those of Wine Judge and Wine Guild member Sam Hauck aka The Wine Teacher “Just join the Vanessa Vineyard‘s wine club and never worry about buying any other wines again, their wines are that good.”

Here are a couple of favourites perfect for your summer sipping pleasure.

2019 Rosé

Our 2019 Rosé is a 100% estate grown blend of 66% Syrah and 34% Merlot, was picked in early October leading to a complex, dry Rosé that is a very pale salmon colour. A wonderful lingering nose of candied raspberry and strawberry is followed by apple, peach and dried sage notes. The palate shows hints of fresh berry, with grapefruit, tangerine and dried rosemary enhancing the clean, crisp mineral long finish.
2016 Syrah
Our 100% estate grown 2016 Syrah shows the power, texture, complexity and elegance of the Similkameen. The nose balances ripe plum, dried black cherry with subtle hints of jasmine and clove. The full, silky-textured palate is packed with blackberry, cassis and black pepper followed by a lingering dark chocolate finish.
VV 2016 Syrah review by David Lawrason = 93 points – “Here’s a very intense, classic cooler climate syrah with a blast furnace nose of hot stones, pepper, black fruit and wild sage/thyme…The length is excellent to outstanding”

Visitors may just be lucky enough to run into “Dr. Soon” while in the Similkameen. The University of British Columbia has honored Howard Soon with an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree. We would like to congratulate Howard for this honour and we look forward to his continuous achievements in the years to come. As our Master Winemaker, Howard is an inspiration to all of us at Vanessa Vineyard and we are grateful that he is a part of our viticulture team.

Due to occupancy restrictions reservations are highly recommended. Credit or debit payments only. No cash sales permitted. During these challenging times, we have revised our Tasting Room operating hours and purchase policies. For the safety of our staff, customers and the community and in keeping with procedures recommended by the BC Ministry of Health, the Tasting Room will be offering tastings as mandated by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).
