#ShiptoSip 2021 with Liquidity Wines

“This series features both the BC Wine new vintages and a few favourites”

Just a stellar line-up from Liquidity. Okanagan Falls is home to Liquidity Wines and other wineries producing top quality wine. Maybe it’s the view? So worth a visit to taste and enjoy the vistas surrounding the tasting room at Liquidity.

The Liquidity wines listed here are first rate. I don’t think there is a dish you could make that isn’t a perfect pairing for one of these fine wines. It’s nice to have a choice of wines that, in this case, you can choose to pair with food or enjoy as a stand alone sipper. So time to #wineonline

2020 Pinot Gris

Wine Profile

TASTING NOTES
Apricot, green apple and lemon zest aromas are beautifully underscored by the stoney minerality which defines our vineyard sites. The palate surprises with added complexity from notes of honeysuckle and a subtle spice reminiscent of arugula.

VINEYARD NOTES
Our 1994 planting of own-rooted clone 457 from our Allendale property was cane pruned and then shoot thinned to produce 2.5 tons/acre. Pinot Gris from our Lusitano vineyard was cropped similarly. The final component was harvested further south in Oliver on the Black Sage bench and cropped at 3 tons/acre

WINEMAKER NOTES
Pinot Gris was harvested over the last two weeks of September and whole cluster pressed. Each vineyard block and harvest were pressed and fermented separately with a variety of temperature profiles. Approximately 20% fermented in neutral French oak barrels with daily lees stirring and the remainder in stainless steel. The 2020 Pinot Gris was blended, filtered and bottled in January 2021.

FOOD PAIRING NOTES
Seabass, citrus scallops, grilled chicken, grana padano.

2019 Chardonnay Estate

Wine Profile

TASTING NOTES
This vintage of Chardonnay showcases aromas of passionfruit, peach, apple blossom, and Asian pear. Further notes of lemon meringue, pear, and baking spice come through on the palate. The mouthfeel has creaminess and texture as a result of daily battonage throughout the fermentation. Lightly oaked with less than 15% new French oak, the fruit is the focal point of this wine.

VINEYARD NOTES
Chardonnay clone 76 exclusively from our Allendale property in Okanagan Falls. Hand-harvested in late September at 23.5Brix

WINEMAKER NOTES
The fruit was whole cluster pressed into mostly neutral barrels (14% new) for fermentation. Lees stirring was performed daily throughout the fermentation. The wine then went through partial malolactic fermentation (25%) and lees stirred weekly during the ML. The wine was aged on lees for 10 months in barrel before blending and bottling.

FOOD PAIRING NOTES
Crab cakes, mussels in garlic cream, and grilled halibut.

2019  Pinot Noir Estate

Wine Profile

TASTING NOTES
An elegant Pinot showcasing red berry fruit and black cherry with hints of thyme and beetroot. A truly terroir-driven wine, notes of gravel elevate the fruit-forward aromas. The palate is silky and delicate with floral nuances rounding out the finish.

VINEYARD NOTES
Liquidity’s 1994 planting of own-rooted clone 115 along with fruit of clones 667 and 828 all cane pruned and then shoot and fruit thinned to produce an average yield of 3.0 short tons per acre.

WINEMAKER NOTES
Three clones from our most established blocks were harvested at optimal ripeness and carefully sorted during the first week of October. Each clone was fermented separately in small lots of ~1000L. The wine was gently hand punched throughout, with some gentle pump-overs as well. After an average of 20 days of skin contact, the wine was pressed to French oak barrels (25% new) and aged for 15 months prior to blending and bottling in March of 2021.

FOOD PAIRING NOTES
Cedar-plank salmon, mushroom risotto, guineafowl.

2018 Dividend

Wine Profile

TASTING NOTES
Elegant aromas of black currant, boysenberry and black cherry lead to a pleasing full-bodied and rich palate. The complex fruity flavours carry through to the palate with subtle hints of violet and vanilla on a long, soft finish.

VINEYARD NOTES
Liquidity’s Cabernet Sauvignon planting from 2009 at the Lucy vineyard and Merlot from 2005 on the Allendale vineyard have been cane pruned and then shoot and fruit thinned to produce 2.5 short tons per acre. The balance of Merlot came from Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen, while Cabernet Franc was sourced from the Golden Mile Bench in Oliver.

WINEMAKER NOTES
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from beautiful south-facing slopes at Lusitano and Allendale properties respectively are the focus of this blend. The Cabernet Franc was sourced from the Golden Mile Bench in Oliver. Each variety was destemmed, crushed and fermented separately. Mostly small lot fermentations with vigorous cap management and delestage throughout, each had approximately 25 days of skin contact before pressing off into mostly French oak barrels (38% new). The wine was barrel aged for 15 months, during which it was racked two times and blended for bottling in March 2019.

FOOD PAIRING NOTES
This red blend is the perfect cool weather companion. Pair it with grilled steaks, venison, roast lamb with garlic & rosemary, duck fat-roasted potatoes or a caramelized onion tart.
