Three Pinot Noirs to Enjoy as Summer slips into Fall

Dundurane introduces you to three Pinot Noirs to enjoy now or to keep for those cooler fall evenings. Presented here Dandurand’s best-selling bottles that highlight one of the world’s most popular red wines.

Known to be an elegant, lighter-bodied wine, Pinot Noirs are made from black-skinned grapes that are notoriously difficult to grow. They are one of the oldest grapes and were cultivated originally in Burgundy. This pale-coloured, translucent wine ranges from light to medium-bodied and is well-loved for its complexity and longevity.

Erath 2020 Oregon Pinot Noir

Founded by Dick Erath over 40 years ago, Erath wines are cultivated in the Dundee Hills of Oregan. Known for their Pinot Noir grapes, Erath’s 2020 Oregon Pinot Noir is a fruit-forward, fan favourite.

Scrumptious aromas of cola, dark cherry, cassis, and a waft of mandarin orange grace the senses of this ruby colored beauty. Razor focused flavors of dark cherry and red plum are accented by a sweet-like entry and long and fresh finish.

Erath Oregon Pinot Noir accompanies a wide range of foods which can include grilled salmon, Ahi tuna, poultry, pork and red meats.

100% Pinot Noir

Leyda Pinot Noir Rosé

A different take on the Pinot Noir grapes is Leyda’s Pinot Noir Rosé. With a bright, brilliant colour and excellent fruit on the nose, this bottle displays intense notes of red fruits like strawberries and cherries combined with citrus notes. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced with a pleasant concentration.

Tart red fruits, citrus, and herbal aromas combine. A fresh acidity and good creamy texture add weight to the mouth and create a long finish.

A firm palate and elegant, creamy texture.

Ideal Pairings: Grilled prawns, goat’s cheese

Trinity Oaks Pinot Noir California 2020

Known for their quality wines using sustainable practices, Trinity Oaks plants a tree for every bottle of wine sold. What better excuse does one need? Save the world, buy a bottle of wine. As the name suggests, this bottle of Pinot Noir hails from California

Vineyard Information:

Trinity Oaks 2020 Pinot Noir was sourced from premier California vineyards in Lodi, Clarksburg and the Central Coast that use sustainable growing practices. Cover crops like flowers, oats, & barley are grown between the grape vines to naturally enrich the soil, boosting ripeness within the fruit. The cover crops also lure beneficial insects to the area, protecting the vines from predators.

Harvested during the cool mornings in Sacramento County and the Central Coast, the grapes were brought into the winery at a cool 55 degrees. The wine was aged upright for six months to add complexity and round out the tannins.

Tasting Notes:

Strong aromas of juicy berries complement ripe red cherry flavors. This medium-bodied Pinot Noir with herbal notes and hints of violet has a smooth, toasty oak finish

Wine Information:

  • Appellation: California
  • Composition: 76% Pinot Noir, 16% Syrah & 8% Petite Verdot

Ideal Pairings: baked beans, hearty stews, mushroom tofu salads
