Spectacular Dim Sum – A Collaboration of the Lobby Lounge and Mott 32

This week I had the opportunity to visit the Fairmont Pacific Rim’s Lobby Lounge to participate in this truly spectacular Dim Sum experience. A collaboration between the Lobby Lounge, Oakridge Park and Mott32.

This is not your garden variety, greasy spoon, old school dim sum! Everything goes so beyond the average it’s hard to know where to start. We just let our server be our guide on this culinary journey.

An exclusive Lunar New Year Dim Sum menu, courtesy of the renowned Chinese fine dining restaurant, Mott 32, available in the hotel’s The Lobby Lounge & RawBar from January 25 until February 25, 2024.

Starting with one of the three featured Lunar New Year cocktails. We both chose the Pandan Sling ($27.). An ode to the old school Singapore Sling but so much more upscale, not nearly as sweet as you might expect, actually just right. A mix of Hendricks gin, Chatreuse Vert, Pandan, pineapple, lime, soda and Angostura. Served in a tall glass it was slightly crisp and oh so refreshing. Definitely not the Singapore Sling of past experience at the old Marco Polo supper club.

On the suggestion of our server we started at the top of the dim sum menu, trying every one of the steamed offerings, one from the baked & fried and one sweet. Here is what we shared:

King Prawn Har Gow ($16)

Black Truffle Siu Mai, soft Quail egg, Iberico Pork ($24)

Black Cod Dumplings, celery, miso ($24)

Wild Mushroom dumplings, water chestnut ($24)

Crab Meat, Scallop, Flying fish Roe, egg white dumplings ($24)

Signature crispy sugar-coated BBQ Iberico Pork bun ($21)

Glutinous Rice Roll, fresh Mango, Coconut ($16)

Mott 32, the award-winning international restaurant has designed a specially crafted Lunar New Year Dim Sum menu that inspires the senses. Guests can indulge in a delicious selection of steamed and baked dim sum, showcasing the finest ingredients and expert culinary techniques. The menu features an exquisite selection of traditional and signature dim sum creations, including dumplings, delicate steamed buns, and crispy spring rolls that pay homage to the rich culinary traditions of Chinese cuisine. The pièce de résistance dish is the Signature Applewood Peking Duck, expertly prepared to perfection, served with crêpes, hoisin and cucumber. Guests can also enjoy a Lunar New Year-inspired cocktail menu which also features a selection of expertly crafted spirit-free libations.

Celebrating the Year of the Dragon, a symbol of power, honor, luck and success, Fairmont Pacific Rim and Oakridge Park will transform the hotel into a dazzling exhibition with themed décor spanning from the lobby to The Pacific Gallery on the second floor landing. The gallery will also feature a self-serve Lunar New Year portrait studio, creating an ambiance that resonates with the festive energy of the New Year, and a photographer that will be in-house for complimentary appointments every Friday to Sunday throughout the festival. Additional family-focused programming will also be available daily in the Oakridge Park Gallery, located in Rogers Tower, directly across from the hotel’s main entrance.

The Lunar New Year Dim Sum Menu is available daily from 11:00am – 3:00pm. For reservations and more information, please visit https://www.lobbyloungerawbar.com/lunar-new-year/.
