OKANAGAN VALLEY CHARDONNAY 2018
The wine is a blend of fruit from four vineyards; our two estate vineyards Old Main Road on the Naramata Bench and McLean Creek Road in Okanagan Falls; Anarchist Mountain Vineyard in Osoyoos and Cellarsbend Vineyard also on the Naramata Bench. The unique terroirs of the four vineyard sites yield a precise wine with elegance, finesse and length. Although we are not certified organic, we practice organic/sustainable farming principles.
The grapes were gently whole cluster pressed with the juice being cold settled overnight. It was then racked off its heavy sediment into a combination of older seasoned French oak barrels and stainless-steel vessels where it went through a cool fermentation using a mix of indigenous and cultured yeast. The wine was left on its fine lees for four months, a natural malolactic fermentation occurred.
STEVENS BLOCK CHARDONNAY 2018
Our family-owned “Old Main Road Vineyard” is located on a terrace on the famed and recently approved Sub-GI, Naramata Bench. One of our four acres which was planted in 2006 with French clones 4 and 5; has the steepest slope and is the coolest part of the site. As the vines have matured this section of the vineyard has developed its own unique terroir and has justified its own designation of “Stevens Block”.
At the winery the fruit was fed directly into the press with an ensuing long gentle whole cluster pressing employed. Only the finest, purest juice from the early stages of the pressing was used for this wine with the more astringent so called “hard press” kept separate. A long, cool indigenous fermentation of two months occurred in a stainless-steel vessel, subsequently the wine was left on its fine lees for a further six months in older French oak barrels. A natural malolactic fermentation occurred.
TRIBUTE SERIES CHARDONNAY 2018 – GORDON A. SMITH
We produced 640 cases of this Chardonnay from our estate vineyard on Old Main Road in Naramata, BC.
This year we pay tribute to Gordon Appelbe Smith, CM , OBC., a cornerstone in the history of Modernist painting in Canada. At age 100, Smith’s creativity continues to enrich all, not only through his artistic contributions, but also through his mentoring and generosity to others.

Only the finest, purest juice from the early stages of the pressing was used for this wine with the more astringent so called “hard press” kept separate. A long cool fermentation began in stainless steel vessels where it remained for most of the ferment. The must was then transferred to 100% French oak (22% new) to complete fermentation. The wine was left “sur lees” for 11 months without battonage. A natural malolactic fermentation occurred in late spring. In keeping with our philosophy to maintain as much as possible a hands-off approach in the cellar to allow the true expression of the terroir this wine is unfined and unfiltered.
Vineyard Notes
Our family owned “Old Main Road Vineyard” is located on a terrace on the famed Naramata Bench, BC and was originally planted in 1996 with 100% Chardonnay vines. The vineyard has a gentle northerly aspect with the soil comprised of alluvial deposits making up a silt loam overlaying a clay loam. The northerly aspects of the vineyard cause the vines to slowly ripen the fruit producing a greater spectrum of flavor while still retaining a good level of acidity and minerality. Although we are not certified organic, we practice organic/sustainable farming principles.
MCLEAN CREEK RD CHARDONNAY 2018
We produced 680 cases of single vineyard Chardonnay from our estate vineyard on McLean Creek Road in Okanagan Falls.
Originally planted in 1994, our family owned “McLean Creek Road Vineyard” is located in Okanagan Falls, BC. The vineyard has a predominantly steep southerly aspect with the soil comprised of alluvial and glacial deposits making up a mix of gravel and sandy loams. The Chardonnay is planted in two separate blocks, one on the far east side of the south facing slope and the other on the west end of the slope. The variation of east and west leads to differences in flavour development and in turn more complexity in the finished wine.
Drink this wine now or cellar up to 7 to 10 years.

MICRO CUVÉE CHARDONNAY 2018
The Micro Cuvée Chardonnay is the most harmonious blend of only the best fruit and best barrels personally selected by our winemaker Chris Carson, from our estate vineyard “Old Main Road” on the Naramata Bench.

A long, cool fermentation began in stainless steel vessels where it remained for most of the ferment. The must was then transferred to 100% French oak (33% new). The wine was left “sur lees” for 11 months without battonage. A natural malolactic fermentation occurred in late spring. For the Micro Cuvée we individually taste and select barrels that we feel stand out; one new French oak puncheon from the Tronçais forest and two one-year-old puncheons from the Vosges and Allier forests were selected. In keeping with our philosophy to maintain, as much as possible, a hands-off approach in the cellar to allow the true expression of terroir, this wine is unfined and unfiltered.

MCLEAN CREEK RD PINOT NOIR 2018
We produced 1,000 cases of this single vineyard Pinot Noir from our estate vineyard on McLean Creek Road in Okanagan Falls.
- Winemaker Notes
At the winery the fruit was gently de-stemmed via gravity into small open top fermenters and allowed to cold soak. After cold soaking, an indigenous yeast fermentation began lasting two weeks and peaking at 32 degrees Celsius, with gentle hand plunging of the must done throughout. After a post-maceration period the wine was transferred to 100% French oak barrels (25% new) where it remained for 11 months. A natural malolactic fermentation occurred in late spring. In keeping with our philosophy to maintain, as much as possible, a hands-off approach in the cellar to allow the true expression of terroir, this wine is unfined and unfiltered.
- Vineyard Notes
Our family owned “McLean Creek Road Vineyard” is in Okanagan Falls, British Columbia. The vineyard has a predominantly steep southerly aspect with the soil comprised of alluvial and glacial deposits making up a mix of gravelly and sandy loams. The Pinot Noir blocks are planted with a Pommard clone (91) and 4 Dijon clones (114, 115, 667, 777) and are planted in three distinct blocks on the 20-acre property (16-acres planted). The largest of these blocks has a steep southerly aspect to capture the full range of the sun, the second block has a gently sloping westerly aspect giving a slightly higher temperature from the afternoon sun, and the third and coolest of the blocks has a gentle northwest aspect. Our philosophy is to manage each block separately and treat each vine individually. Although we are not certified organic, we practice organic/sustainable farming principles.
MICRO CUVÉE PINOT NOIR 2018
Our Micro Cuvée Pinot Noir represents the most harmonious blend of selected barrels from our estate vineyard “McLean Creek Road” in Okanagan Falls.
- Winemaker Notes
- The Micro Cuvée Pinot Noir represents the most harmonious blend of selected barrels from our McLean Creek Road vineyard. For the 2018 Micro Cuvée, the grapes predominantly came from our block of Pommard Clone 91 with Clone 115 contributing one quarter. Our winemaker selected two new French oak 500 litre puncheons from the Tronçais forest along with four one-year-old French oak puncheons from the Tronçais and Allier forests to make up the Micro Cuvée. In keeping with our philosophy to maintain, as much as possible, a hands-off approach in the cellar to allow the true expression of terroir, this wine is unfined and unfiltered.

OLD BLOCK PINOT NOIR 2018
We produced 363 cases of 2018 Old Block Pinot Noir. The “Old Block” is one of the original vineyard plantings from 1994 and is part of the largest block of Pinot Noir at our McLean Creek Road vineyard.

The “Old Block” Pinot Noir as it is affectionately called, is one of the original vineyard plantings in 1994 and is part of the largest block of Pinot Noir at McLean Creek Road. It has a steep southerly aspect to capture the full range of the sun, is roughly one acre in size, and the clone is unknown. We have always believed the “Old Block” was capable of standing on its own but we had to wait until the new planting (2009) of Pinot Noir had matured and came into full production. Although we are not certified organic, we practice organic/sustainable farming principles.
