George Siu of Memphis Blues BBQ says: “We think it’s important to pitch in to help members of our community when they hit a bump in the road. We love that we can make a difference by giving people an easy way to enjoy some great food in the great outdoors.” BCHF Executive Director Dana Harris notes: “This continues to be a challenging time for the hospitality sector, and we think it’s amazing that businesses continue to offer initiatives like Memphis in May that will help support our colleagues in need. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Memphis Blues BBQ for stepping up and getting involved.”
Funds raised by the initiative will help the BCHF continue to provide last-resort assistance for hospitality workers in financial crisis due to a serious health condition. The charity also offers a scholarship program that fosters the next generation of hospitality industry leaders.

About Memphis Blues BBQ
In January of 1999, George Siu (an original owner of Not Just Desserts) and Park Heffelfinger (Vancouver Wine Academy) had a stopover in Memphis while flying from New Orleans. Lunch was a pulled pork sandwich, and it was love at first bite. Since then, they have attended the World Barbeque Championships in Memphis where they conducted extensive research. They were able to reproduce the recipes at home and decided to bring authentic Southern barbeque to Canada.
