“Garnacha is my life”

Fernando Mora was an engineer working in the automotive and wind industry when he fell in love with wine, and did everything within his power to turn his hobby into a profession.

In his quest to become a winemaker, he planted 28 vines in his grandparents’ garden in Alagón, Zaragoza and bought a kit to make his own wine at home, with an ice-based temperature control set that he placed in his bathtub. His first vintage was in 2008 when he made wine with friends in Valdejalón.

After leaving his job in 2013, he created Bodegas Frontonio, and in 2015, he launched a new project in Campo de Borja called Cuevas de Arom. He is also involved in consultant winemaking and sales for third parties. His life, like ours, revolves around Garnacha.

A chance encounter and a Garnacha recommendation at AMAR in Barcelona led to a wonderful friendship with Sommelier Diana D’Urso. Diana is brilliant, and her knowledge of French, Italian and Spanish wine is extensive. She is from Campania, Italy and currently holds the role of Brand Ambassador at Bodegas Menade.

Her extensive resume also includes being a sommelier at Tickets – ElBarri by Albert Adriá and Heart in Ibiza (a venue born from the collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and the Albert and Ferran Adriá brothers), as well as a collaborator of Bullipedia by Ferran Adriá.

But, beyond that is her enthusiasm for sharing wines she loves with people who are new to experiencing them.
