THE MEAL DEAL: NON-PROFIT CHARITY CELEBRATES SUCCESS OF TONIGHT FOR TOMORROW™ FUNDRAISER ADDS 20 NEW EATERIES TO ITS ROSTER OF VANCOUVER RESTAURANT PARTNERS

Even if dollars were the only determiner, Mealshare’s recent ‘Tonight For Tomorrow’ fundraiser would be declared a runaway success, but the full impact of the dining event held across Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa on May 10, 2017 that raised more than $63,000 for the local charity might not be so easily measured.

Money raised during the second-annual fundraiser — which saw 15 Vancouver-area restaurants donate 50% of their evening’s food sales, as well as a main sponsor that matched donations — will go towards growing the organization and bringing its programs into new cities across Canada in order to foster a long-term, sustainable impact on the fight to end youth hunger.

The good news gets even better on June 20, 2017 when 20 more Vancouver establishments join the charity’s ever-growing roster of restaurant partners that support Mealshare’s buy-one, give-one model, allowing conscious customers who order a Mealshare-branded menu item at participating restaurants to provide a complementary meal to youth in need at no extra cost to them. For each designated item sold, Mealshare’s partner restaurants contribute financially to the organization, which then forwards the funds to its network of partner charities to purchase groceries and ingredients needed for a healthy meal. The result: buy one, give one — a meal for a meal.

The 20 new Vancouver-area restaurants joining the Mealshare team this June are:

  • Amici Restaurant
  • Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe
  • The Arbor
  • Bao Down – Gastown
  • Bao Down – Olympic Village
  • Bao Down – On The Drive
  • Bao Down – Snack Bar
  • Bay Moorings Restaurant
  • Cacao
  • Cinara
  • Dinner in the Sky
  • The Dirty Apron – Catering and Delicatessen
  • Faculty Brewery
  • Feast Neighbourhood Table
  • Heirs Pears
  • Milestones – Cambie
  • Nammos Estiatorio
  • Nomad
  • Terroir
  • Trading Post Brewing Taphouse & Eatery
The majority of the financial support provided by Mealshare stays in the local community to provide meals as a catalyst for change via organizations like the KidSafe Project Society — which provides hundreds of vulnerable children and youth with safety, nutrition and educational programming during school breaks — and the Breakfast Club of Canada, which helps provide local kids with a healthy meal each day before school and an environment that allows their self-esteem to grow and flourish. Mealshare also supports Save the Children Canada, which provides meals to children in developing countries through Save the Children International, a network of 30 member organizations with programs focused on child rights and protection, health and nutrition, clean water, education and emergency relief.
