All Seasons Wines Road 13 Honest John’s

Although I started this series of wine features while it was still summer it’s not too late to enjoy these wines because they are truly all season wines.

Who says Rosé is only for summer sipping? What about crisp whites, can you enjoy them all year round? We know a bold red is perfect now with chillier weather but why not in the summer with bbq?

Let’s think outside the box when it comes to tagging a wine with a season. These wines are delicious anytime of the year, and these Road 13 Honest John’s wines are ideal spring, summer, fall and winter. Not only that they are good value too!

Winemaker’s Report

All vineyard blocks were harvested at peak ripeness, sorted, pressed, and slowly fermented separately before final blending and bottling.

Tasting Notes

Fresh notes of tropical fruit, citrus, jasmine flowers, ripe pear, and lychee on the nose make this white wine come alive! Ripe, rich pineapple and papaya flavours, with hints of apple and pear on the palate. The ripe fruit is balanced with natural acidity.

Perfect Pairing

This refreshing white blend is a welcome splash of freshness. Serve it chilled with fresh seafood, summer fruit salads, roasted chicken, Thai food, sushi, and great weather.

2021 Honest John’s Bold Red Blend

Blend
Merlot
Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Sauvignon
Gamay Noir
Pinot Noir

Field Report

The 2021 growing season got an earlier than average start. The warm spring conditions resulted in an early budbreak and vigorous growth. June saw unprecedented temperatures and resulted in poor flowering and a lowered berry-set. Dry summer conditions continued to slow vine growth and bring wildfires. The silver lining was that the high level smoke blocked the sun, delaying ripening in the vineyards. Harvest began earlier than usual, with many grape varieties ripening at nearly the same time and picking finished earlier than most years.

Winemaker’s Report

Fruit for this wine was harvested, fermented and aged separately before final blending and bottling. The wine was kept on skins long
enough to extract the juicy fruit tannins and pressed off the skins to retain its approachable, smooth tannins.

Tasting Notes

Ripe dark fruit, strawberry pastry, and black pepper are delicately pronounced on the nose. Balanced with silky tannins, this fruit forward
red is a crowd-pleaser filled with complexity.

Perfect Pairing

By itself at a BBQ, patio, or beach or high up in a mountain meadow. Pair with BBQ ribs, mushroom dishes, grilled red meats, pasta with
tomato based sauces, BBQ chips, charcuterie boards, or with a cigar on the golf course.
