The Prisoner Wine Co., a brand anchored in the art of winemaking, has partnered with renowned Toronto-based multi-disciplinary artist Anthony Riccardi to create a limited-time-only (LTO) wine box design. From December 1st-30th, these LTO exclusive gift boxes featuring Riccardi’s distinctive heart motif will come with all purchases of The Prisoner Red Blend at the BCL, while supplies last.

For the Prisoner Wine Co. limited edition collectors box, Anthony was inspired by the iconic imagery of the Prisoner Wine Co. label. He used his renowned heart motifs, interlinked like a chain, to symbolize the unbreakable power of following one’s true passions – inspired by his own journey.
“This piece emphasizes that to follow your heart, you must embrace the unconventional and break free from societal norms,” says Anthony Riccardi, “this collaboration is an invitation for the onlooker to explore a world where art and wine intertwine, celebrating the beauty of defiance and the power of authenticity.”
The Wine
The Prisoner Red Blend was inspired by the wines first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in Napa Valley. The Prisoner is now the most recognized red blend, leading the resurgence of interesting blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono. Bright aromas of ripe raspberry, vanilla, and coconut give way to flavours of fresh and dried blackberry, pomegranate, and vanilla, which linger harmoniously for a smooth and luscious finish.
Pairing: Grilled Steak, Roast Beef, Rack of Lamb, Lamb Shank, Osso Bucco, Sharp Cheddar.

This bold blend combines Zinfandel with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Charbono to create a robust, ripe, smooth salute to the ‘mixed-blacks’ field blends of early Italian immigrants to California. Named for and featuring the 1807 etching by Francisco de Goya on the label, this is a wine that will deliver prune, dark chocolate and toast alongside rich dark fruit preserve tones. A powerhouse wine that calls for a grilled steak.

About Anthony Riccardi
Anthony’s story and artwork aligns with the Prisoner Wine Co.’s ideology. After attending Alabama State University on a baseball scholarship followed by five years working in finance, Anthony switched gears to pursue his true passion – art. The challenge? Anthony is colour blind. But that didn’t stop him from creating vivid works of art using a range of vibrant colours and patterns, overcoming what many would consider an obstacle. Today, his collections are showcased around the globe.
