Featuring a Spotlight Wine from Castoro de Oro Estate Winery
This Castoro de Oro wine is their top-tier, recently featured in the Winethusiast Club‘s Spotlight Wine bundle, made for wine lovers. The winery was asked to pick just one wine that could be featured. The wine had to be what the winery considers just that little extra bit special, and viola, the wine was selected.
Heart of Gold ®
Heart of Gold is a white blend bringing together Pinot Blanc, Vidal, Siegfried and Viognier. It exhibits a wide variety of fruit flavours, with a slight cotton candy note on the end.
Seriously complex, and how could it not be, with these four diverse grapes combined perfectly to be much more than the sum of the parts! So go ahead… grab a cooler of cold cans or a bottle and crack open this lovely unoaked white blend.
With a clean nose of peach, grapefruit and apricots. round and fruity on the palate with honey, apricot, ripe apple and just enough citrus on the finish to keep it fresh, followed by an after note of warm sugar.
Siegfried is an uncommon grape and is not the same as, nor is it related to, siegerrebe. Siegfried has a varietal characteristic of warmed sugar / cotton candy, aroma and finish, even when the wine is not actually sweet this note comes through after you swallow, these notes are some of what makes the Heart of Gold so special.
Super easy to pair with food and the cotton candy note either complements a meal or disappears with others and is extremely quaffable without food – remember you’re drinking real wine if you’re sipping it from a can at a music festival, hiking or on an airplane!
Notes of minerality and hints of vegetal scents that mellow into aromas of honeysuckle and vanilla. Showing stone fruit flavours as the Viognier makes itself known on the palate.
A pleasant wine to enjoy on its own or paired with light dishes, or charcuterie and cheese.

We’ve been around awhile in the winery business. We started the winery in January of 2006, and opened our wine shop a few months later in April. We have seen a lot, done a lot, worked a lot and enjoyed a lot of wine. Family owned, we are true vignerons – we make wine from grapes we grow. Simply, we are farmers who like to make good wine.
Our wine shop is open daily. Come by for a tasting of our wines, and leave with a few of your favourites. We’re located right off of highway 97 south, about halfway between Oliver and Osoyoos, B.C.
