Okanagan Wine Festivals – Spotlight Winery wine bundle includes:

Dirty Laundry 2021 Hush Rosé

Winemaker’s Notes:

The Hush Rosé is comprised of several varieties, mainly Pinot Gris and Cabernet Franc. The juices are processed separately, and also at different times of our vintage season, to provide complexity, and flexibility with the style. The Pinot Gris is destemmed and crushed, and allowed to soak on their skins overnight in the cool night temperatures to allow all those luscious pear and peach flavours to soak into the juice, along with that trademark dark fuchsia color our Pinot Gris Vineyards give us.

The Cabernet Franc is also destemmed, crushed, and pressed immediately. We have the capability on our crush pad to fill our press while simultaneously pressing off the juice, which gives us a delicate pink color and extracts berry flavours like the classic strawberry profile of Hush, without over extracting the Cabernet.

We ferment the juices at relatively cool temperatures, preserving aromatics, and then we rack off into stainless steel, where the wine settles until we blend. Blending is key to our Rosé, and definitely is the highlight of cellar work each year.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of strawberries, red apple and papaya seeds with subtle hints of candied fruit. The palate boasts of bright red apple, mouthwatering pear, with a hint of floral notes mid palate. With the addition of more Cabernet Franc then in past vintages you will find it translates to a beautiful light-medium bodied wine with a crisp balanced acidity on the finish.

Food Pairings:

This wine is very versatile, from sipping it on its own, to Thanksgiving dinner, you will find this wine extremely food friendly. We recommend trying it with a nicoise salad, grilled veggie skewers, or even a nice roasted chicken with thyme and sage.

Dirty Laundry 2020 Hush White

Winemaker’s Notes:

This blend has quickly become a fan favorite and the second wine to join the Hush family. This wine is met to be fun, interesting and flavourful. All portions are fermented separately and the final blend is carefully chosen; all grapes are sourced from our Summerland Vineyards.

A balanced blend of Gewürztraminer, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc, in the bottling process we add a very small amount of C02 to add a small amount of bubble. This really elevates the flavour and adds a bit of excitement to your first sip.

Tasting Notes:

You will find aromas of ripe pear, lemon, honey and herbal notes. The slight effervescence you will find upon opening the bottle balances the bright acidity with flavours of Meyer lemon, crisp orchard fruit and slight amounts of honey on the finish.

The wine that pairs with the word summer. Garden fresh salads, fresh fruit salad, even a good pairing for a charcuterie board and a beach hang out. Fresh shucked oysters, or a cream based pasta with fresh seafood would be such a delight. If you are looking for a cheese pairing think mild – light creamy soft cheeses like a goat or whipped feta.

Dirty Laundry 2019 Hush Red

Winemaker’s Notes:

A blend of small lot fermentations of Merlot, Malbec & Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from arid vineyards in the hotter climate of Osoyoos. We work with several growers in the South to source red grapes that need some more heat and sunshine to fully develop.

We always process each red lot separately on the crush pad, then carefully select and blend certain lots in order to deliver a bright, fun and fruity red wine that doesn’t need much except a patio and some charcuterie.

Tasting Notes:

On the nose you will find red cherry, and raspberry jam. The palate boasts of plums, cherry and chocolate covered raisins with a hint of cedar.

Food Pairings:

BBQ Beef Burgers, or quinoa veggie burgers are the perfect pairing.

Enjoying this easy drinking wine on a hot day on the patio with a charcuterie board full of meats, cheeses and fresh fruit is perfect!

Dirty Laundry 2019 Woo Woo Gewürztraminer

Winemaker’s Notes:

We pick this Gewürztraminer in several pickings over the course of October, and all of the fruit comes from our Summerland Vineyards. The reason for this is to help balance the various levels of acidity throughout the vineyards. Half of the fruit is soaked on skins in cold temperatures for 2 days and the pressed off into stainless steel where it undergoes spontaneous fermentation. They other half of the fruit was crushed, destemmed and pressed directly into the tank where it cold settled. Racked then inoculated in cold fermentation to preserve varietal characteristics and aromas.

Carefully blended by the wine makers while keeping some residual sugar in the bottle to brighten the Gewürztraminer fruit.

Tasting Notes:

The nose boasts of rose petal and other floral notes. On the palate you will find bright acidity with notes of tropical fruit, honey and candied mango, with a touch of sweetness on the finish.

Food Pairings:

Pad Thai, homemade pumpkin gnocchi with a brown butter sage sauce, and even spicy chicken wings. Spicy dishes are a great match for this wine. Looking for a cheese pairing try a stilton, or aged gouda.

Dirty Laundry 2020 Sparkling White

Winemaker’s Notes:

A Cuvee of Summerland grapes picked early to retain their high natural acidity. Whole cluster pressing these grapes releases delicate aromas and textures.

This wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks before it is bottled under pressure giving it a beautiful effervesce.

Tasting Notes:

The nose on this fun and aromatic sparkling boasts of green apple, fresh ripe peach and a slight bit of fresh cut grass. The flavours of apricot, and honeydew melon dance across your palate with a hint of freshly baked apple danish on the finish.

Food Pairings:

This is your breakfast best friend. Mix it with your favourite fresh squeezed fruit juice, or enjoy on its own with your brunch crew. Smoked salmon eggs benny, fresh fruit or a beautiful charcuterie spread are all perfect for this wine.

Dirty Laundry 2019 Merlot

Winemaker’s Notes:

100% Merlot. A staff favourite, this Merlot from British Columbia displays character, acid, and punch comparative to its Californian counterparts. The Merlot is sourced from some of the warmest vineyards in Canada in Osoyoos. The fruit arrives typically over the course of several days in October, and our winemakers access each lot and choose select fermentation techniques and yeast depending on the fruit’s characteristics.

We aim for dark, rich, purply fruit that has enough acid and tannin to support an extensive oak program lasting 18 months. We use a blend of French and American oak barrels, always aiming for about 30% new barrels.

Tasting Notes:

With aromas of ripe red berries, cherry liqueur and chocolate covered raisins, this fullbodied wine exhibits flavours of Saskatoon berries, black current, and mocha with a med – high tannin structure with a very dry finish.

You will find balanced hints of barrel spice, leather and a herbaceous note of sage on finish.

Food Pairings:

Roast beef dinner with all the fixings, stuffed pork tenderloin or a roasted chicken. Mushroom risotto with grilled asparagus would be a great vegetarian pairing. Gorgonzola and most blue cheeses would pair nicely.
