From a family-owned winery in the southeast of France, this wine is garnet/black with deep intensity. The nose displays aromas of earth, chocolate, bramble, blueberry, plum, black olive, gravel, and white pepper. Good balance with firm ripe tannins. Earth, spice, black cherries, plum, and chocolate on the palate followed by a medium-plus finish. Very approachable, but better if aged for another three to eight years.
2016 Merlot
Scorched Earth
Kelowna, BC
$27.99
The fruit for this wine came from the Golden Mile Bench in Oliver. Garnet red in colour with deep intensity. The nose is a cacophony of aromas including cherries, ripe plums, violets, dusty herbs bacon, blackberry, smoke, vanilla, spice, and a hint of honeysuckle. Very well balanced. The flavours echo the nose followed by a medium-long finish. There is a lot of concentration in this wine. Be sure to give it lots of time to decant.
