Hester Creek
Set on the 105-acre Mediterranean-influenced grounds, views at Hester Creek are highlighted by the vineyard laden hills of the Golden Mile Bench and the estate boasts some of the oldest vines in the region.
In 1968, BC wine pioneer Joe Busnardo came upon an excellent property sheltered below the rugged desert bluffs of what is now known as the Golden Mile Bench. Spread over 76 acres of a gently sloping hillside, he recognized the potential for growing superior vinifera grapes on this unique land. Today, a total of 115 acres comprise our estate, which is planted with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Italian Merlot, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Sémillon, Syrah, and Trebbiano on 22 vineyard blocks. Each block is farmed sustainably, harvested, and vinified individually to preserve and enhance the nuances of the land.
Hester Creek takes a terroir-driven approach to winemaking that gently guides the fruit from juice to bottle. A hallmark of Hester Creek’s style of winemaking is crafting wines that are both varietally correct and that display the unique characteristics of the site.
Employing a state-of-the-art cellar that includes unique Italian Ganimede fermenters, Hester Creek balances consistency with complexity in making wines of distinction that are an intensely flavoured expression of the more than 50-year-old vineyard, with the goal to craft renowned wines from renowned vineyards.
