VV TAPAS LOUNGE NOW OPEN IN STRATHCONA VILLAGE

Small plates and an extensive local and international wine list headline Strathcona Village’s newest eatery.

VV Tapas Lounge has officially opened in Strathcona Village, a colourful and brand-new development within walking distance of Commercial Drive, Chinatown, and Downtown. The brand-new gathering place is inspired by Vancouverites who share a passion for artfully prepared small plates, locally and internationally sourced wines, craft beers and cocktails, and most importantly, good company.

Created for those who love good food and wine, the 55-seat eatery was designed by Vancouver based Nahal Gamini Design. The room immerses guests in a bright and modern setting, incorporating elements of the outdoors in with wood tables, a cork bar front, greenscape wall, and a reclaimed wood 12-seater bar.

VV Tapas Lounge’s menu celebrates local, quality fare. Guests can expect a relaxed yet refined ambiance, with highlights ranging from in-house pickled fruits and vegetables, creatively seasoned popcorn, and freshly shucked oysters. Not to be missed is the delectable charcuterie selections including a range of hand-selected artisan cheeses from neighbours Les Amis du Fromage, and fine meats. Hungry for more? VV Tapas Lounge also offers a creative menu that includes Fresh Grape & Quinoa Salad, Salmon Gravlax, Scallop Tartare with Herb Risotto and Deviled Duck Egg. All dishes are perfectly crafted and prepared by Executive Chef Zach Poole.

Cooking and getting creative with locally-sourced ingredients and suppliers, pairing the dishes with some of the best wines available, and working with such a great team in my beloved East Van is a dream job,’’ says Chef Zach Poole.

The wine list at VV Tapas Lounge, headed by Sommelier Rachelle Goudreau, is comprised of quality labels sourced both locally and internationally, with a focus on BC, Italy, and France. Cocktail fans rejoice with the introduction of signatures including the VV G&T (Sheringham gin, fino sherry, dry bitter tonic, and Castelvetrano olive), or The Full Monte (amaro Montenegro, Canadian club 100% rye, angostura bitters, and cherry). Local craft brewers Strangefellows, Parallel 49, and Strathcona can all be found on the beer menu.

VV Tapas Lounge is located at 957 East Hastings and is open Tuesday – Saturday from 4:00pm to 11:00pm. During Happy Hour (4pm-6pm and 9pm – close), guests can enjoy a wide selection of $4 Sherry, Vermouth and Amaro offered individually or as flights. Happy Hour goers can also expect to find $6 glasses of wine and $6 craft tall cans of beer.
