Most of the performance was classical jazz, but at one-point Hancock walked out on stage with a large, white keytar and played a couple songs. The audience in the lower section were quiet, focused and stayed seated the entire night
The lights dimmed and there was a welcome solo DJ mix that started the show. We watched the DJ tap quickly and heard the heavy beats that dropped as he worked both hands and an elbow across his marvelous music machine. Just then the Roots entered to a standing ovation.
Too Many Zooz opened the night with huge sound, massive moves on the stage, and everyone danced in appreciation. This three-man musical group hails from New York City where they got their break from a viral video taken by a passer by of the group playing their Brasshouse music in the subway.
