Wednesday Wine Reviews by @Sam_WineTeacher

2014 Semillon
Bartier Brothers
Oliver, BC
$19.90
Lemon yellow with medium-light intensity.  Crisp, crunchy pear and apple, minerality, citrus and a hint of while flowers on the nose.  Good balance and mouthfeel.  Juicy fresh fruit on the palate followed by a medium-plus finish with lingering acidity.  A very age-worthy wine.

2016 Chardonnay
Coolshanagh
Summerland, BC
$36.90
Bottled at Summerland’s Okanagan Crush Pad, these grapes come from a special vineyard on the Naramata Bench.  Golden yellow with medium intensity.  Lemon butter, smoky toast and caramel on the nose.  Well balanced with good mouthfeel.  The aromas carry on to the palate along with beeswax followed by a medium-long finish with lingering flavours.  A big, yet elegant, delicious chardonnay.

2015 Merlot (Oldfield Reserve)
Tinhorn Creek
Oliver, BC
$28.99
This impressive BC Merlot is garnet red in colour with medium-deep intensity.  The nose is layered with aromas of dark fruit and berries, cherries, spice and vanilla.  Well balanced with smooth ripe tannins.  The flavours follow the nose with blackberry and cocoa added to the mix.  A medium-long finish with lingering flavours.

2017 Gamay Noir
Volcanic Hills
West Kelowna, BC
$16.90
Garnet red with medium intensity.  The nose opens with cranberry, red cherry and black pepper aromas.  Good balance with medium-body.  Red berries, pepper and smoke on the palate followed by a medium finish.

2014 Meritage
Vanessa Vineyard
Cawston, BC
$39.99
A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  Garnet red with deep intensity.  Prune, earth, baking spice, red berries, cocoa and smoke on the nose.  Well balanced with smooth soft tannins.  Pleasing on the palate with flavours mirroring the nose followed by a medium-long finish.  Impressive.
