Across the 5 continents, a “dinner à la française” will be held in several thousand restaurants, in addition to France’s embassies and consulates, serving over 300,000 guests. Goût de/Good France 2020 will once again place sustainable gastronomy at the centre of this new edition.
“Visiting the Cabane à Sucre with my family was something that I used to look forward to every year,” says Poirier, who spent his formative years in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec before embarking on his culinary career. “We want to give our guests an authentic taste of the sugar shack experience from start to finish and show why this is such a time-honoured part of our Québécois heritage.”
Each restaurant has a featured dish and the proceeds of that dish go to the Powell Street Getaway at 528 Powell Street, a peer-led resource centre that supports people living with chronic illnesses, addictions and/or mental health challenges. Funds raised from Dine Railtown will be put directly towards Powell Street Getaway programming and initiatives.
Several Vancouver chefs have banded together to end the stigma on speaking out about the prevalence of mental health issues in the kitchen. They want people to speak up and loud. On Monday, November 18, 2019 at 6:30 p.m., the whole community is invited to help mobilize change in the hospitality industry with the launch of the inaugural Kitchen Aide fundraiser at Café Medina (780 Richards Street).
