In addition to the weekly wine review and the various other, usually wine-related, articles I write for My Van City, I am going to include a new one that will appear from time to time. I’m calling it, ‘From the Cellar’.

The important takeaway here is two-fold. One, drink what you like. Don’t let a wine score or the lack of one stand in the way of enjoying a good wine.

2016 Chardonnay (Winemaker’s Reserve) Mount Boucherie West Kelowna, BC $30.00 I tried this wine (same vintage) about a year ago and really liked it. 2017 Wren (Chardonnay) Schell Wines Kelowna, BC $32.19 Golden straw colour with medium intensity. Apple, lemon, caramel, and vanilla with honeydew undertones on the nose. Well balanced. For me, the best quote came from Joy Sterling, “Bubbles are comfort wine.” I totally agree and this serves as a good reminder to buy more BC Bubbles as we are so very lucky to have so many great ones to choose from.
As we waited for everyone to arrive, we chatted and strolled the gardens with a refreshing glass of 2018 La Ensemble, a sauvignon blanc/semillon blend from La Frenz winery in Naramata.
