The Caesar – the drink that became so popular that the Canadian parliament declared it the country’s office cocktail in 2009 – turns 50 this year. To celebrate, mixologists at Fairmont Hotels throughout British Columbia have rolled up their sleeves to create one of kind signature drinks for National Caesar Day on Thursday, May 16, 2019.
“I have been to this festival since its inception,” notes the 51-year industry veteran and CEO of TIME Winery Harry McWatters. “To receive the first Best in Show award is such an honour. I am so proud of our winemaking team of Graham Pierce, Nadine Allander, and Darrien McWatters.”

The vast majority of Tempranillo is grown in Spain with lesser amounts originating in Portugal and a few other countries. Spain is also known for Garnacha and Monastrell, but Tempranillo is the main grape of Spain.

As we celebrate Spring at Black Hills we’re also reveling in a special release of the one and only first vintage of our very own Pinot Noir.
The morning began straight out of the gate with a blind tasting. The wines being tasted belonged to the female panelists for the initial session entitled, “Women in Wine”.
With more than 20 years’ experience in the wine industry, Schaefer’s wine career began after completing the Okanagan College Oenology program in 1995. He then went on to work several vintages at numerous wineries in the Okanagan.
