Bard on the Beach celebrates 30 years with the fast-paced and festive Shakespeare in Love.

Now, I am one who loves to study Shakespeare.  But in truth, very little is known about the artistic life of the Bard and the evolution of his literary genius.  Shakespeare in Love (originally a movie by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard) captured the imagination of audiences everywhere in 1998.

Arguably one of the most well known operas of our time, the Vancouver Opera is staging their 12th production of La Bohème since they first performed it in 1960. The last time the bohemian arias were sung by the VO was in 2008, a very melodramatic interpretation indeed, and so being able to attend this new staging felt much more authentic and was a real treat.
