The evening started pleasantly with an atmosphere enhanced by sparkling lights and mellow instrumental sounds of a sitar. There was no doubt that Chef Alan really pulled out all the stops when it came to the dishes that were paired with the Nobel Ridge wines.

Osoyoos East Bench grown, Bordeaux inspired: a Cabernet Sauvignon focused blend with Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère…no Merlot was harmed in the making of this wine.
This dessert is ALL about apples – use in-season, local apples if you can – these have an acidity and starch that really make the compote sing, that you won’t get at other times of the year.
This is a classic pairing with the rich and creamy dish of scallops and heavy cream (gasp!) so not a dish to eat every night but spectacularly delicious.
The dish was done on the bbq along with other root vegetables and served to lovers of rich, red wines. Hence, the choice of he Syrah. Sometimes you just have to move out of your comfort zone to find something special.

Definitely the star of this dinner was the Maverick Sauvignon Blanc that was the perfect match for the Roasted Zucchini with Garlicky Bread Crumbs and Mozzarella. Plus a repeat dish (a definite favourite) Italian Sausage Meatballs, this time with Marinara Sauce.
