Innovative and new ‘Vines & Spines’ monthly wine and book club has now been launched by local BC Winery. The subscription membership includes a new release book (in paper or audible form) and a bottle of Waterside wine delivered monthly.
Okanagan winemakers, Michal and Martina Mosny met with me at Murchies Tea & Coffee house last spring when they were visiting Victoria. I looked up from my laptop and was struck by how they’re both animated by youthful energy, a kind of hopefulness, tempered by Old World grace. Although it’s been seven years since they left their boutique winery in Slovakia, close to Dolna Krupa, a village where Beethoven is believed to have written the haunting, “For Elise,” they still are accompanied by a lovely European charm.

With glass in hand we entered the Culinary Theatre where the Culinary Workshops take place now through December. There are several options for the Dynamics of Food & Wine series where the professional Culinary team prepare dishes that guests will later enjoy paired with Mission Hill wines.

The project will not be completed until 2020 but it was interesting to view in the construction stage. When we were there in May the amphitheatre was taking shape and the exterior patio next to the restaurant had just been completed.
As tempting as it was to just repeat our wonderful dinner from the Fall we decided to give the new Spring menu items a try this time and pair with the recommended wine flights. The menu changes with the seasons but you can expect it to always be at the peak of freshness.
