Now that fall has arrived the Butternut Squash is superb and readily available at farmer’s markets or the grocery store. This is a simple version that can easily be prepared for a weeknight dinner.
From time to time I am the fortunate recipient of wines sent to me to review. It is especially nice to share these wines with friends. Not only does it make for lively conversation, and often diverse opinions, but it also makes for a very enjoyable occasion.
This was the opportunity for the Qualicum Beach Cafe to shine, and shine they did. The dishes were nothing short of spectacular and the guests were thrilled to experience the inaugural Wine Dinner featuring the wines of Noble Ridge.
Guests will taste four different wines paired with five delicious foods. Book in groups of two to six people, tickets are $25 per person. We are so excited to see some familiar faces and spread some cheer with you all.
The evening started pleasantly with an atmosphere enhanced by sparkling lights and mellow instrumental sounds of a sitar. There was no doubt that Chef Alan really pulled out all the stops when it came to the dishes that were paired with the Nobel Ridge wines.

The fall was superb, with cool nights and warm days. With an extremely hot summer, brix (sugar) was higher this year, harvests were early, and we expect intense aromas and flavours.
