2014 Chardonnay Blackwood Lane Langley, BC $29.00 Golden yellow with medium-intensity. Toast, buttered popcorn, citrus and pineapple on the nose. Very good balance with a rich creamy texture. When you are planning your holiday party, choose a few select wines that are fitting for the occasion. A deep, warming red that pairs with hearty winter dishes; a cool, fruity white; and of course a bottle of sparkling wine will all make for a real seasonal treat.
Many of the wines were what the producers consider to be “premium” wines. The majority of the wineries are located in the Western Cape.
What a better place to start than Tinhorn Creek wines. Tinhorn Creek has been around for decades and they make great wine. I was reminded of that fact on our most recent trip to the Okanagan and a visit to the Tinhorn Creek Vineyards tasting room.

Led by an all-star winemaking team that includes Olivier Humbrecht MW (Domaine Zind-Humbrecht), Cameron Vawter (Napa’s Dana Estates) and Anne Vawter (Oakville Ranch, Red Mare), and designed by John Taft of Backen & Gillam Architects (Harlan Estate, Dana Estates, Ovid), Phantom Creek Estates announced that the new South Okanagan winery will open late summer 2019 for private tours and tastings by-appointment-only and will fully open to the public in 2020.
