This Vanessa Vineyard wine dinner hosted by Glowbal was one of the best wine dinners I have ever attended. The dishes were marvellous and the pairings absolutely perfect.

What you may ask is the BCWAS? Established in 2005, British Columbia Wine Appreciation Society is a not-for-profit organization showcasing the wines of British Columbia through monthly tasting events. Our events range from informal walk-around tastings to formal tastings with the winemakers and/or winery principals. Attendees enjoy tasting, learning and discussing wine in a relaxed atmosphere.
It is very special to have the opportunity to not only attend a delightful wine dinner but to also have John Skinner on hand to give us his personal perspective of each wine pairing, a history of the wine making process often accommpanied with a short story of how each varietal came to be a feature of the Painted Rock portfolio.
For me I can’t help thinking of the scene from Love Actually where (James) Colin Firth travels to Portugal to propose to Aurelia where she is working in a local restaurant. He calls to her from the doorway of the restaurant and she looks down from the upper floor as he proposes in his broken Portuguese. The Greek might just be the place for romantic proposals.
