The Wine Oscar for the Best Oenologist of the Year was established in 1999 and is awarded by the Academy for Oscars for particular professional merits that have emerged during the candidate’s work. After the death of the great master Giacomo Tachis, his name was added to Oscar prize, in memory of this unforgettable professional author of wines that have marked the history of wine-growing Italy in the world.
Yields were down but the quality of the fruit was excellent. The winemakers expect 2019 to produce delicious lower alcohol, bright acidity wines. This first article highlights the harvest for the Okanagan Valley and Shuswap Regions of British Columbia.
Tall Tale Wines is a small winery that does not have a fixed location but sources premium quality grapes from the South Okanagan. Tall Tale, which makes fine wine in small batches using a completely natural approach, released its first wines in 2017.
Winemakers remain optimistic as they head into the last few weeks of harvest with many looking forward to lower alcohol levels and vibrant natural acidity for a fresh and elegant 2019 vintage.
Following an introduction while attending the Garagiste North – small guys wine festival we made a point of getting out to Lariana for a tasting of their wines.

On this afternoon the tasting was a prelude to our Tasting Menu dinner at the Liquidity Bistro. I highly recommend and suggest a lunch or dinner prior to or following your tasting to enhance your visit. Both the Vertical Tasting or the Reserve Tasting are a leisurely exercise that takes time to enjoy.
We will chat self-love and taste 3 different local wines from Bella, Lock + Worth and Le Vieux Pin to guide the conversation on the various intentional choices the winemakers make that directly translate to the final bottle.
